Barclays Stockbrokers has announced the launch of an interactive tool to help investors tailor their portfolio to their risk appetite.

Investment Viewpoint directs investors to either a cautious, moderate or opportunistic pathway using what Barclays is calling ‘abacus imagery’ to signpost each investment approach, after asking investors a series of questions.

Barbara Ann King, head of investments at Barclays Stockbrokers, said that it was time to recognise that clients are more highly mobile than ever before and that it was time to make better use of interactive media and social networking.

She explained: ‘Almost 95 per cent of Barclays Stockbrokers’ clients now transact online and the number of pages viewed per client has increased significantly year on year.’

King said that the majority of Barclays Stockbrokers’ clients are self-directed investors and the trend towards individuals taking control of their investment decisions means that they need additional information which, perhaps, was not as necessary before.

She added: ‘Through Investment ViewPoint, our clients benefit from quality investment information, delivered through a variety of tools that reflect today's lifestyles.

‘The expertise and knowledge demonstrated in these articles should provide a robust starting point for those investors wishing to broaden their investment horizons and empower them to make their own investment decisions.’
