Henderson has confirmed that Mark Harris is to take charge of its £1.1bn multi manager business when Bill McQuaker moves to focus on his role as head of equities from 1 January 2010.
McQuaker will continue to manage the £194.3m Henderson Income and Growth Fund, the £30.6m Distribution Fund and £91m Growth Fund.
Harris joined Henderson as part of the acquisition of New Star nine months ago and has over 20 years of investment experience, having previously held the role of head of investment management at Edinburgh Fund Managers.
Speaking on the reorganisation, McQuaker said his colleague has a proven and consistent track record of managing fund of fund businesses.
He added: “I have every confidence that his considerable expertise and the combined talents of the Henderson New Star team will stand us in good stead as we look to regain a pre-eminent position in the multi manager market.
“I have always enjoyed managing money and will, therefore, continue to do so. I feel this will ensure that my decisions as head of equities are grounded in the practical as well as the strategic.”
