Low carbon asset management specialist Climate Change Capital has pulled out of a deal to buy a 50 per cent stake in Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE.L) wind farm.

A deal had been announced in June for a Climate Change Capital fund to acquire the stake in the Braes of Doune onshore wind farm.

However, Scottish & Southern Energy revealed that financial market conditions had forced Climate Change Capital to postpone the associated fund raising required for the acquisition.

Gregor Alexander, finance director of Scottish & Southern Energy, said the news was 'disappointing' but needed to be considered in the context of market conditions.

He said, 'The asset will continue to deliver revenue for Scottish & Southern Energy and the proposed proceeds were not required to help fund Scottish & Southern Energy's investment programme.'

The deal had been worth £61.3 million in cash and was part of a series of wind farm disposals by Scottish & Southern Energy.
