SURVEY: Global Emerging Markets (GEM) funds

Contrary to some industry opinion leaders, Global Emerging Markets have been tipped to be the best performing investment sector this year in a poll of financial advisers.

The research, conducted among over 600 financial planners, found 34.7 per cent of them believe the sector will out perform all other regions in 2011 although some investment houses have released messages to the contrary.
And, while equities are believed to be the top performers globally this year, it is investors in the Investment Management Association’s (IMA) emerging markets sector that have been tipped to perform the strongest.
