JO Hambro Capital Management has recrutied Samir Mehta and Cho-Yu Kooi as fund managers ahead of the launch of two Asia ex-Japan funds in September.
 
The boutique investment managers is set to acquire Singapore-based asset manager Silver Metis Capital Management founded by Mehta in 2007.

Mehta had previously worked at Lloyd George Management in Hong Kong between 1998 and 2007, where he managed Asian equity mandates and became chief investment officer.

Kooi also previously worked for Lloyd George Management as a portfolio manager between 2001 and 2008.

Gavin Rochussen, chief executive of JO Hambro Capital Management, said, 'Samir has established a great reputation as an Asian equities investor and has extensive market experience.

'Together with Cho-Yu, we believe we have found the right team to lead our efforts in this increasingly important region.'

He added, 'As well as managing their own portfolios, they will assist with idea generation for our existing global and emerging markets equities strategies.'

The new fund to be managed by Mehta will be invest in a concentrated portfolio across the market cap spectrum with a long-term return philosophy. Kooi's fund will be concetrated in the small-mid-cap fund, also with a long-term return philosophy.
