Aberdeen to launch emerging markets small cap trust
Rob Langston, 11 May 2011
Aberdeen Asset Management is planning to launch a UK-listed emerging markets smaller companies investment trust in June.
The Aberdeen Emerging Markets Smaller Companies Trust will be managed by its emerging markets equity team and invest in smaller companies from a range of countries.
The asset manager is aiming to raise £150 million in gross proceeds and wil target long-term capital growth.
Aberdeen believe the scale of the investment universe and lack of research will provide opportunities for the management team
Devan Kaloo, head of global emerging markets at Aberdeen, said there were many attractive companies in the small cap sector.
The trust will be listed on the London Stock Exchange’s main market with a public offer in early June.
