Generation Asset Management has launched its first fund - an offshore UCITS III multi-asset emerging markets fund.

The Generation Emerging Markets Fund will be managed by chief investment officer John Cleary, using a multi-manager, multi-asset approach.

The fund has previously been run as a 'standalone strategy' for more than four years.

Sixten Eriksson, managing partner at Generation, said manager Cleary had more than 24 years' experience investing in emerging markets.

He added, 'We believe that this fund launch fits well with our firms’ strategic focus on emerging markets and natural resources and that it is relevant for investors by offering active regional and asset class allocation.;

John Cleary added, 'Emerging markets represent a considerable - and growing - proportion of the world economy, and offer significant return potential.

'However, we believe that traditional all-equity approaches offer unattractive risk-adjusted returns while hedge funds rarely offer efficient protection.'

'Our strategy aims to capture upside market opportunities whilst seeking to reduce downside volatility thereby delivering superior risk-adjusted returns over the market cycle.'

The fund, which will initially target private banks, family offices and high net worth individuals - has a minimum investment of $10,000, a 1.5 per cent management fee, and a 10 per cent performance fee.
