Fidelity International's Ilario di Bon is to join Alliance Trust as its head of global equities in July.

Di Bon, who was previously head of institutional global equities at Fidelity, will report to Alliance Trust chief Katherine Garrett-Cox.

Garrett-Cox said di Bon would bring experience of developing and managing global equity portfolios to the investment trust. She said the trust was continuing to move focus towards investing in equities on an unconstrained basis.

The new head of global equities was previously responsible for managing Fidelity's Global Opportunities fund. Prior to joining Fidelit, di Bon had spent eight years at UBS Global Asset Management in a number of senior roles.
