Schroders has strengthened its £35 billion Multi-Asset investment team with the appointment of Matthias Scheiber as fund manager.

In his new role, effective 8 September, Scheiber will join a team of over 60 multi-asset investment professionals globally and will report to Johanna Kyrklund, head of multi-asset investments.

Nico Marais, head of multi-asset investment and portfolio solutions at Schroders, said the multi-asset business has experienced rapid growth in the last five years and that it wanted to ‘build on this momentum’.

He added, ‘We continue to deepen our multi-asset investment process especially in the area of research and product innovations and Matthias will be a key contributor to this.’

Scheiber joins Schroders from Aethra Asset Management, where he was fund manager and partner, responsible for managing absolute return mandates and a hedge fund.

He has 11 years of investment industry experience having worked as a tactical asset allocation portfolio manager and strategist at Fortis Investments within BNP Paribas Investment Partners.

Prior to this, Scheiber was at ABN Amro Asset Management.

Schroders has made a number of new hires to its multi-asset business, including Aymeric Forest, Rob Hall and Garth Taljard.

Forest was appointed fund manager earlier this year, while Hall, who had spent 20 years at US-based Russell Investments, was hired to the newly-created position as head of manager selection.
