Polar Capital has put former Threadneedle managers Andrew Holliman and Richard Wilson to work on a new North American equities team for the asset manager.

The former Threadneedle pair are to begin work on a North American UCITS fund scheduled for launch in the coming months.

At Threadneedle, Holliman and Wilson were responsible for the management of more than $6 billion in assets held in North American strategies.

Holliman's and Wilson's departures from Threadneedle were revealed earlier this year.

Tim Woolley, chief executive of Polar Capital, welcomed the appointment of the North American equities specialists.

He said, 'Their recruitment is consistent with our strategy of seeking to expand our product offering to clients through the hiring of experienced managers with a proven record of outperformance.'

Holliman added, 'Richard and I are looking forward to working with Polar’s existing world-class sector and geographical teams.

'Polar’s rare combination of entrepreneurial and performance driven culture and robust infrastructure make it an ideal environment for a fund manager to work to the best of their ability and consistently add value for clients.'
