State Street launches ETFs in London
Rob Langston, 26 July 2011
State Street Global Advisers has become the latest entrant to the exchange-traded fund (ETF) market in the UK, launching 11 funds on the London Stock Exchange.
The 11 ETFs include products offering exposure to fixed income, global and emerging equity markets.
Pietro Poletto, global head of ETFs at London Stock Exchange Group, said State Street Global Advisers were 'a great addition' to current providers.
He said, 'The launch of SPDR ETFs’ emerging markets products will further strengthen our position in the field; London Stock Exchange currently lists more emerging markets ETFs than any other exchange in the world.'
The addition of State Street brings the number of issuers to 16 with more than 490 ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange.
