Former Tottenham Hotpurs Goalkeeper to
co-manage agricultural fund
From football to farming
Eclectica Asset Management is set to launch the latest fund in its investment range, the CF Eclectica Agricultural Futures Fund.
The new open-ended fund, due to be launched in June, will have a flexible long-only mandate to invest in global agricultural commodities and will be co-managed by Hugh Hendry and former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, Espen Baardsen.
Baarsden has co-managed the macro element of the Eclectica hedge fund with Hugh for over two years, including the investment in agricultural commodities.
The Eclectica Fund has had a significant weighting in agriculture since it launched in 2002. With an in-depth knowledge of agricultural equities and commodities, Eclectica look at the sector holistically and this has great practical benefits in terms of investing.
The new fund will complement the existing Eclectica Agriculture Fund, a long-only global equity fund launched in June 2007, which is up 35 per cent since inception and 18 per cent so far this year.
Hugh Hendry, chief investment officer at Eclectica, says, ‘We believe that the markets are embracing a historic revaluation of hard assets versus their financial counterparts. We’ve been using the opportunities presented by recent weak markets to add to positions in commodities and commodity-related equities across our fund range.
‘With this new fund we are aiming to capture this generational bull market in agricultural commodities, as well as satisfy investor demand for a pure commodities investment vehicle.’
The fund's minimum investment is Euro 125,000, it has a 1.75 annual management fee and a 10 per cent performance fee. For more information visit www.eclectica-am.com
