An independent business has launched for individuals searching for private care plans for later life.

Care Free Plans aims to offer a specialist advice service for those looking to pay for care fees in either a care home or a more specialised location through investments or immediate care annuities.

Philippa Gee, director of the business, said the service was launched after customers of her financial advice service asked her for help with the implications of paying for care.

She explained, ‘Our clients made the decision for us. We work in a town where 70 per cent of homeowners own their homes outright, so it’s primarily somewhere people go to when they retire.

‘Clients were facing the problem that either they were already in poor health or heading that way and wanted to prepare.

‘We adapted our business and to show we are serious about it and set up a website to describe what we do.’

Gee said, for her customers, it always used to be inheritance tax that was the major issue for them, in how to pass on money to future generations.

However, with care costs of up to £1,000 per week locally, clients are frankly now lucky to get to that position at all, she explains.

‘Solicitors encouraged me to specialise in this way as well, because they were concerned about the lack of quality advisers and were worried about the advice been given to clients.’
