Norwich & Peterborough Building Society is offering free share dealing until the end of the year.

New traders registering to use its service will also have the opportunity to win a £500 Christmas hamper in a prize draw.

Commission free share dealing is available on all purchases of UK listed investments for new customers who open a N&P nominee trading account or a self-select Stocks and Shares ISA.

In addition, all customers will get a chance to win a luxury Christmas hamper worth £500 every time they make a trade until the LSE closes on 10 December.

Danny McIntyre, share dealing product manager at N&P said the Christmas promotion is a great opportunity for those looking for a cost-effective way to trade.

He explained, ‘This is a perfect opportunity for people who are thinking of investing in stocks and shares and we can offer them a quick and easy route into the stock market without incurring commission fees.

‘This offer will appeal to a wide range of investors who want to build their own stock market investment portfolio, and covers shares, bonds and gilts, and the increasingly popular exchange traded funds.’

McIntyre said that, with the ISA limit now at £10,200, investors can shelter their portfolio from tax through a Stocks and Shares ISA.

N&P offers a range of share dealing accounts including nominee and self-select Stocks and Shares ISAs which can be operated either by telephone or online, with the flexibility to track investments 24 hours a day.

Online commission rates start from £9.95 and the building society does not charge any "inactivity" fees.
