WPP bolsters Indian presence with acquisition
Rob Langston, 06 July 2011
Advertising and marketing company WPP (WPP.L) has acquired a majority stake in Indian advertising agency Mindset Advertising Private.
The deal - made through global advertising network JWT - is the latest in a series of acquisitions by WPP in emerging markets.
The Hyderabad-based company was founded in 1998 and reported unaudited revenues of Rs 51 million (£716,825) for the year to 31 March 2011.
The acquisition of Mindset is part of WPP's strategy of branching out in 'fast-growing and important markets and sectors'.
According to WPP, India is one of the group's fastest growing markets generating revenues of approximately $450 million (£281 million).
In recent months the group has acquired stakes in Brazilian companies F.Biz and Gringo and Who Digital in Vietnam.
