Wolseley to sell Electric Center
Rob Langston, 12 July 2011
Building supplies company Wolseley (WOS.L) has sold its Electric Center subsidiary to Edmundson Electical for a 'small gain'.
Edmundson is set to snap up the business following an employee consultation in the next few weeks.
According to Wolseley, in the 10 months to 31 May 2011, the business generated revenue of £115 million and a trading profit of £2.2 million.
Wolseley is set to use the cash generated by the deal to pay down the company's debt.
Ian Meakins, chief executive of Wolseley, said, 'This transaction is in line with our strategy of focusing on businesses where we can create leading market positions.
'Given the complementary nature of Edmundson and Electric Center, the transaction represents a good outcome for the business and its employees. We wish them every success for the future.'
