Capita Group (CPI.L) is to continue providing services to the Criminal Records Bureau for a further year from the end of March 2012.

The outsourcing specialist will provide its disclosure service to the Criminal Records Bureau for an extra 12 months under a public-private partnership (PPP) contract.

The extension has been requested to allow the Bureau and the Independent Safeguarding Authority to conduct and complete a joint procurement exercise.

The exercise is being undertaken to address the future shape and delivery of the service under a new single organisation, the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Criminal Records Bureau contract was described as a 'material contract' with annual revenue of more than 1 per cent of Capita's 2010 turnover in its half-year results, and was up for renewal in 2012.
